A lot of small breweries make a light (in color/body/etc.) beer because they seem to feel like they have to. And I think that’s silly because you, the world-wise savvy drinker, can tell. Those beers taste like homework. They taste like resentment - you don’t make a beer that tastes like that because you want to. The first time we made Extra Naked I kept trying to drink from an empty glass because I’d finished mine without realizing it and I still wanted more. I’m told that the British call that “moreishness.” There, you learned something today. Go ahead and crack one open, you earned it.

Exactly what one would expect from a cream ale - good head, light color, nicely carbonated with just a bit of malt. The beer itself was delicious and went down very easy.

On tap at the brewery.
Pours a clear yellow.
Subtle smell, some wheat and lime.
Taste is light, with some lime and coriander. Kind of a cream ale/wit hybrid.
Very crisp an easy to drink.
Nice cream ale, easy to drink, but not all that much going on. Not a sipper, but a gulper.

Pours a relatively clear light gold color with a finger of fluffy white head. Solid retention and lacing on this one.
The aroma is incredibly light and yeasty. Smells faintly of cornbread, with a hint of peppery spice.
The flavor follows the nose but is far more strong and noticeable. Mellowed hops give way to bready yeast and a note vaguely reminiscent of cornbread. Finish is dry and clean.
The feel is light bodied with decent carbonation. Crisp and refreshing. Flavors fall off the palate as quickly as they embrace it.
Overall, a pretty damn good cream ale. This isn't a flavor bomb by any means but it isn't meant to be. It's meant to be an inoffensive, easy drinking ale that has just enough flavor to keep you coming back for more. This beer accomplishes exactly that.

Pours a clear, lightly golden straw in color with a half finger or white head. Aroma is subdued but does show a bit of complexity. I get some corn notes and a low-medium hop presence that presents as spicy. There are definitely some yeast esters at play; its a touch like bubblegum but it could also be hops because it reminds me vaguely of melon, cantaloupe, and mango. Taste hits the same notes as the aroma, I don't get much in the way of malt presence but i do get the same spicy hops and a touch of that indistinct yeast and tropical fruit character. Decent mouthfeel, light-medium body and carbonation; a bit more heft than I'd look for in a cream ale. Overall a pretty good beer, its got more yeast character and body than i would have expected but neither hurt the drinkability much. I don't think a cream ale will ever get too much attention but this is a solid.
