Appearance: Arrives slightly hazy and amber colored, with a solid head; decent retention and a few shards of lacing
Smell: Caramel, bread; pith and onion
Taste: Hints of bread and caramel out the outset but then the beer moves into a bitter territory, with a strong pithy character that overwhelms the palate and lingers into the finish; verges on oniony bitterness
Mouthfeel: Full bodied with moderate carbonation
Overall: Rather unbalanced and not what I seek out in a barleywine; the malt base recedes too far into the background

Had this beer on draft at the brewery. A blonde barleywine. It's a one time brew; a collaboration with CARBOY, the local homebrew club. Nice malt forward aroma with some graininess. Color matches the style of a blonde barleywine. Flavor is complex, with a candy-like aspect coming through and the hops balancing nicely. Chewy mouthfeel. A very enjoyable and interesting beer. Worth searching out if you can find it.
