Pours pitch black, nearly impervious to light. Minimal mocha head that lingers. Aroma is dark chocolate, sweet vanilla, fairly strong coffee. Flavor is milk chocolate, sweet vanilla, cinnamon is light - perfect. Coffee is nicely balanced in the background and lingers on the finish. Barrel aging really melds it all together nicely. Carbonation creates a creamy texture. Overall, a delicious barrel aged beer.

A: Pours an opaque yet still clear thick viscous jet black in color with very light amounts of fine active visible carbonation rising slowly along the edges of the glass and very faint very dark cola brown + very dark chestnut brown + very dark garnet red colored highlights. The beer has a half finger tall dense foamy dark tan head that quickly reduces to a very thin ring at the edges of the glass. Minimal amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Moderate to strong aromas of roasted + dark + chocolate + caramel + toffee malts with moderate amounts of caramel + toffee + lactose sweetness. Moderate aromas of cinnamon + vanilla + coffee. Light aromas of earthy hops. Light aromas of toasted oak + bourbon.
T: Upfront there are moderate to strong flavors of roasted + dark + chocolate + caramel + toffee malts with moderate amounts of caramel + toffee + lactose sweetness. That is followed by moderate flavors of cinnamon + vanilla + coffee. Next there is a light to moderate flavor of toasted oak + bourbon. Finally there is a hint of earthy hops. Minimal amounts of hop or roasty bitterness which a lingering rich sweet chocolate + cinnamon + bourbon in the finish.
M: Full bodied with light to moderate amounts of carbonation. Smooth with moderate amounts of alcohol warming in the finish.
O: Definitely a slow sipper but does a very nice job of hiding the alcohol from the taste and smell with just some warming in the mouthfeel. Big, rich, and decadent. I really enjoyed the addition of the cinnamon + vanilla + coffee. Not sure I have ever had a blend of barrel-aged imperial stout and barleywine but I definitely dig the combination.
