2016 notes:

Deep black coloration, slim, cocoa-tinged head of foam.

Sweet chocolate flavor pours forth from the nose. A little dark fruit lurks below.

In the mouth, richness and well-balanced sweetness. A major dose of smooth. Even just a little bit creamy. Goes down ridiculously easy, and tastes terrific. Medium to full-bodied, long malty finish. Delightful. I could drink this over and over again.

Silky may be its name but it lays a bit heavy. Maybe satin?

Love the flavors, but they don't dance enough together. It's not overly cloying, but just as the most interesting notes of toffee and bitter malt come in they leave very quickly.

L: Poured from a 750 ml bottle into a tulip glass. Pours bright dark brown under a ½” tan foam cap that dissipates moderately fast.

S: Exudes a pleasant mix of bourbon, dark malts and dark dried fruit with some coffee notes and traces of chocolate.

T: Has a moderate amount of bourbon seasoned with light coffee, dark dried fruit, prune, fruit and Belgian yeast flavors. The flavors are lighter than they could be but this makes the beer very drinkable. No harsh or burnt flavors. Lingering grain, coffee and bourbon flavors with a touch of tart on the finish.

F: Very silky and creamy with a rich Belgian texture. Medium body and medium to medium high levels of very fine, soft carbonation.

O: A very well made beer with nothing cloying or overstated. The bourbon is there but it is restrained enough to let the beer talk.
