A: The beer is jet black in color. It poured with a finger high dark off white colored head, which took a very long time to die down, leaving a short head covering the surface and lots of lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Moderate to strong aromas of dark and roasted malts are present in the nose.
T: From start through finish, the taste is dominated by lots of flavors of roasted malts; these really persist and linger in your mouth. Only a little bitterness is noticeable, but there are enough underlying hops to quell any sweetness. As the beer warms up, hints of licorice also become noticeable.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and the roasted malts lend some dryness to the mouthfeel.
O: This beer has the types of strong, roasted flavors that you would expect from an American Black Ale, but without any of the hop bitterness. It is rather unique.

appearance is dark with red highlights/hues and a off white head that is thin.

smell is of faint dark fruits of plums, dates, and figs similar to the smell of a Belgian dark strong

taste is caramel and ripened fruits/Belgian yeast with a wine finish almost some woody notes that is mixed with chocolate malt and earthy hops that are not really distinguishable on there own but meld well with the malts and slight alcohol that seems to be coming through.

mouthfeel is medium to high with not much carbonation but rather slick.

overall this is a very tasty complex beer that drinks as if its a 10% and not a 7% dark biere de garde/saison with not as much carbonation. Well done
