Big thanks to rudzud for the bottle.

Pours a light fizzy head that fades little lacing, very murky super rosy maroon color.

Nose, def not the same bottle that rudzud had, yes there is cherry in there, lots of cherry skin, sour cherry mostly, but not a huge cherry, and there is a big gose or Berliner Weiss, lots of sour mash notes, and wild funk, a weird chemically sour acidic funk too though, raw bread dough, a touch of salt and some minerality and spices, that weird funky sourness almost solventy thing, unfortunately.

Taste is a looooooot better thankfully, none of that weird chemical acidic solventy thing, very tart gose, sour funky, earthy almost cheesy funk, a little salty with touches of spices, creamy wheat base and little lemony gose, nice funk level, some cherry not a ton, sour cherry and a little sweeter maybe Balaton, little candy cherry pie, sour cherry skin, fair acidity that ramps to a little flemmy finish, lingering tart cherry and lemony sour gose.

Mouth is med to lighter bod, decent fizzy carbonation, tart acidic flemmy.

Overall no idea what bottle rudzud got, but it wasn't anything near what I have, something really weird and off thing on the aroma, thankfully not very strong aroma as the good gose and some cherry there but something off, some cherry but nothing close to what rudzud had, taste was pretty nice, base gose was great and a bit of nice cherry, so no idea what the juxtaposition of the nose and taste were about.

Picked this up at the brewery. Dave told me the amount of sour cherry juice that was used in this...thought I submitted that amount as an update but I guess not...

A - Poured into my Duvel tulip a nice hazy pinkish hue with just maybe a little bit of gold to it. A very, very light ruby. Or well...cherry juicy color. The head though...two fat fingers of creamy pinkish white that leaves light side lacing and a very thick blanket. Absolutely stellar appearance for a Gose. Just stellar.

S - Aromas of tart sour cherries. Almost cherry pie filling like. Not the sweet stuff from the can but very bright and just lightly jammy. The cherries overpower the base beer pretty heavily. The lemon notes of the gose are gone, replaced completely by cherries. I don't really get much salt at all either. The doughy grains though are still there, although much more muted now due to the addition of cherry juice. That being said, this nose is absolutely incredible. What grain element is there, combined with the massive cherry aroma, tricks the brain into smelling a fresh baked cherry pie. It's really, really something. I can hear JLindros in my head saying though "where is the beer?! This doesn't smell like a beer" and I guess that's why I wouldn't give it a 5. That being said I would rather have this aroma, cherry forward, than one where the cherries are muted and play second fiddle.

T - Taste is similar to the nose. More of that big tart cherry pie filling going on. Really get juicy, what I imagine are montmorency, cherry flavour. Once the cherry tartness fades though there is big gose notes. The base beer really comes out, nice creamy lactic funk. Very nice cereal grains and doughy notes. Very light flemmy notes with just a bit of salinity on the finish.

M - Mouthfeel is lightly carbonated, little creamy. Would like a bit more carb.

O - Overall, this gose was just incredible. Damn near perfect use of the cherries in this beer, I honestly don't see how this could be any more cherry without it getting into that weird medicinal realm that can happen with cherry beers. Base beer comes through perfectly on the taste. Killer appearance. Other than wanting some more carbonation this beer is the best non stout from Dave I've ever had. If this was from Westbrook or de Garde people would be losing their absolute minds and trying to trade some sort of barrel aged stout for it. Top notch Dave, top notch. If you ever venture into the world of canning your beers this one needs to be included.
