Bottle thanks to Rudzud
Pours a pinkish rosy 1/2 finger foamy head that fades at a med pace, nice lacing, clear auburn ruby color with rosy hue
Nose big raspberry out front, but then something off, a little buttery corn thing perhaps, not sure if DMS or maybe diacetyl, or part of the yeast that should be there, I'll have to keep going, raspberry seeds and touch of tannins perhaps, mild spices and phenols as well as some chemically alcohol poking through, creamy doughy wheat, the more I nose the more I think the weird off flavor might just be the phenols and perfumey alcohol
Taste brings a mix of most of the same from the nose, starting with doughy malt and creamy wheat notes, into Belgian yeast phenol spices, the phenols again mix with the perfumey alcohol which is pretty prominent as well, a little fusel note from the alcohol, sweet sticky syrupy malts into raspberry, mild raspberry with some fruit juice and tannic seed, a little bit of an old beer flavor somehow even though it's not that old, some bitterness from spices, raspberry seeds, and some hops in there seem to clash a bit
Mouth is med bod, big perfumey alcohol but not tingly, lighter carb, a bit sticky sweet
Overall this was OK at best, not sure how Rudzud got such a hardon for this beer, it was not anywhere like he mentioned, raspberry was OK but not great, base tripel seemed to be off, not really off flavors like I initially thought but not a great tripel and alcohol mixed with phenols didn't really bring a nice character, and the entire balance and presentation was bleh, so sorry Dave, maybe it was a bad bottle compared to rudzud but this was not your best

Picked up a bottle of this at the brewery today.
A - Poured into my Duvel tulip a beautiful slightly hazy ruby hue with a big three finger pinkish head that fades incredibly slowly to leave rocky lacing and a thick blanket. Never really falls lower than half a finger and a heavy swirl produces a super creamy one finger pink head. Really, really nice appearance.
S - Big aromas of slightly tart raspberries, little bit of berry sweetness, fresh berries, berry juice. Some Belgian phenols and esters poke their way through. Smells more raspberry fruited beer than tripel, however, the tripel is still there.
T - Taste is similar to the nose, nice fresh slightly sweet raspberries. Little bit of tartness. Real big tripel notes, excellent phenols and esters, little bit of spicy phenols as well. Some light sugars. Nice fruity yeast, almost powdery. Nice malt backbone. Finish is a little seedy berry followed by a flash of hot alcohol. Super balanced on the taste without getting cloy!
M - Mouthfeel is is nicely carbonated, it's a bit hot but that's somewhat to be expected. Carbonated is fluffy too.
O - Overall this was a really, really interesting beer. Some lovely raspberry notes here, tart and slightly sweet, never gets cloy though. The base beer shines through on the taste and the berries make the appearance just stellar. Incredibly enjoyable tripel, albeit a bit boozy.
