Special 1-off batch made as part of the end of Flying Dreams. Really really sad to see this place go. I loved their beer!!! HUUUUGE thanks to Dave for this one. Growler
Pours with no real head, low carb, not sure if it was carbonated much before growlered, dark basically black color with a hint of legs
Nose is fantastic! Fresh oak staves, toasted vanilla and mild buttery oak, rich wood almost cedar like without the heavy cedar spice, plenty of vanilla, blended well with the base stout, dark chocolate, roasted malts and a bit of coffee, some baking spices, faint anise, cocoa, char, nougat
Taste again brings the oak staves out front, rich toasted oak, lots of vanilla, more of the woody freshly dried oak but yet not overpowering, base beer holds up well as it brings dark chocolate, roasted malts and more mild coffee almost espresso, more baking spices both from the dark malts and oak, creamy milk chocolate cocoa, nougat and semi sweet candy bar like, mild cookie dough, fair bitterness, drier finish
Mouth is fuller bod, creamy lush a bit rich, no carb unfortunately
Overall this was quite nice aside from the lack of carbonation. I'll try force carbonating the growler and see how it goes from there. I'm so glad to try this, but at the same time so sad that it never got a chance to be a released beer as the brewery is closing. The end of a fantastic era.
