Poured from the can into a Spiegelau IPA glass. Canned 03/31/2020. Too cold in MD!
Very NEIPa looking brew. Very pale yellow and opaque body, fairly solid but not quite turbid. Hints slightly green as well, with a classic big bleach white thick and soapy head. Some retention, a good three fingers in height as it slowly settles down.
Excellent aroma. Hints of herbal and spicy hops, mixing with a giant fruity hit of added grapefruit. A zesty punch seems to accent the hops, or perhaps the added fruit. Either way it's an excellent compliment as the hops and fruit seem to help each other and amp them up real nicely. Simple neutral yeast and malt presence makes for a good hop focus. Not too sweet smelling either which is very good.
Palate gets things a bit more centered and simple. Slightly juicy, but luckily not overly grocery store carton tasting and feeling body. Big hits of orange and grapefruit punch. Slightly chalky flavors though, but a full rich hop experience. Hits with very bright fruit, with a good finish of earth and leafy herb quality on the aftertaste.
A good big simple bright IPA for drinking. Surprisingly well hidden ABV too.
