Poured from the bottle into a large snifter glass.
Deep rich mocha forming head, with a super fine amount of tiny bubbles almost nitrous looking. Creamy two finger top you could sink in it, resting on a classic reddish dark walnut opaque body.
Good nose, but relatively simple aromas. More of a molasses bent, with out the rich think oaky sensing flavors. Faint touch of strawberry like estery notes which is nice, but a dominant molasses to dark pumperknicel sensing breadiness. Real solid good smelling stout, but doesn't hint of oak aging, and I am not getting any vanilla off of this on the nose either.
Palate is quite solid. Milky sensing mouthfeel, with a touch of velvet just not quite getting that big round quality you would get with a barrel aged beer. Flavors are good on toasty dark malts and a dark bread almost biscuit cookie like flavor. Faint hints of cream, but more sense of dark roast, but without the chocolate or coffee.
Comes off as a classic chewy rich stout, but not with the great barrel notes or unfortunately vanilla quality.
