The name Suspended Brewing was inspired by a 100 year old Italian tradition called ‘caffè sospeso’, which translates to suspended coffee. The suspended tradition is simple and socially elegant: a customer orders a cup of coffee, but pays for two, “suspending” the second cup for another who cannot afford it.
The barista keeps track of cups in suspense with a log behind the bar. A person steps into the café, catches the eye of the barista and asks if anything is suspended. If there is, the barista nods, crafts a cup of coffee, and serves it free of charge.
We love the suspended concept because it allows a business to transform everyday, ordinary items like a cup of coffee—or say, a beer—into an opportunity for people to do something good.
In addition to making high-quality craft beer and coffee, we want to make an ecologically focused and socially equitable business.
The brewery has been built, furnished, and operated with ecological stewardship.
We currently utilize clean, renewable energy with a high-priority goal of becoming carbon neutral.
We guide our purchases with socially sustainable intentions, sourcing as much as we can from other socially conscious companies.
Our goal is to build a place where people want to be, employees are proud to work, and other businesses are inspired to emulate.
Thanks for reading. Cheers!

Decent lazy Sunday vibe. Open space with some tables and no chairs in the back. Smallish bar area and then seating tables towards the front. Nice size crowd for as early as it was. Had a sample and then 2 beers. Service was attentive I want to say there were 3 persons working for the small crowd going. Had the oak fermented UK mild that was pleasant a full of flavor for being under 4%. Also had a taste of the same beer that was traditionally fermented in stainless. Full pint of the double IPA that was going. Only 6 beers available but an interesting mix of selections. These folks have gotten some good press so I sought them out before some of the other Baltimore breweries. Seem to be doing their own thing which works for me for sure. Worth stopping in.

There is a nice selection of beers that works with all kinds of palettes and beer preferences. Beers range from hazy pale ales to barrel-aged beers. However, they also offer lesser known styles such as English Milds. The staff and owners are accommodating and friendly! The ambiance is not intimidating. You won't feel out of place if you are not a big beer drinker! Finally, make sure you ask what's on their secret menu! There is usually a beer or two that is available that is not on the beer menu!
