Dark amber body; thick, sticky head. Woody, boozy aroma; caramel in the background; herbal and grassy. Sweet, caramel flavor with a suggestion of peppermint or anise; some bourbon character; somewhat bitter. Heavy body; thick and chewy; mostly sweet finish.
White oak scent emanating from an excellent looking body and head presages an intensely flavorful IPA with boozy, clove-like notes. The beer may be based on traditional English styled IPAs (traditional English hops supposedly used), but the overall character is unabashedly American IPA (big ABV and aging done with bourbon oak chips) in the end result. A distinct and unique beer.
