Bottle label data: Ancient ale bittered with yarrow and mugwort with added horehound, valerian root and wormwood.
Cloudy, orange-colored body; plenty of carbonation yet barely any head. The smell reminds one of potpourri, yew and cypress. Rather tart flavor with odd semblances to orange and lemon; bitter. Heavy body; smooth; some sweetness yet finishes with a puckering dryness.
This is a different animal, to be sure. Pleasing in many ways and yet certainly has some strange qualities that are hard to make heads or tails of. This is my first experience with this style, and would definitely try other examples if only to see how they compare to this one.
