Smoked IPA
Local Relic

Hazy, peach-yellow body; very thick, sculpted, frothy head; sticky globs of foam and lacing along the glass. Subtle whiff of smoke in the aroma. Slightly sweet flavor initially with a gentle smokiness building up at the finish; mild fruit flavors; bread crust; low-key bitterness. Heavy body; somewhat juicy; mostly sweet finish.

The brewery gave me this bottle in exchange for some previously over-carbonated bottles. This beer was released only to its subscription members. Too bad it isn't (wasn't?) offered to the public as its a distinct and refreshing smoked beer. The smokiness is subtle throughout but adds a deft touch to the mostly sweet, fruity flavors. A fine twist on smoked and IPA beers...
