Jet black body; thick, foamy head. Big aroma of pretzels and charred toast; peanut butter. The flavor mimics the aroma with additional levels of bitterness, baker's chocolate, and some alcohol presence. Heavy body; rich and warm on the palate.
This beer is a pleasant surprise in that I expected it to be overly heavy and treacly. Instead, it brought about a nicely balanced, rich, roasted character, (and, yes) pretzel and peanut butter flavors. And despite a somewhat noticeable alcohol edge, it's very approachable with a low 5.1% ABV. This beer was another October 2016 subscriber's beer from the brewery. I believe it would have had great appeal if offered to wider audience.
