Hazy amber colored body sporting a dense, creamy head; sticky rings and globs of foam on the glass. Very grainy aroma infused with some pit fruit sweetness. Fruit-heavy taste initially that brings on some toasted grain flavors, all followed with a rather strong, phenolic alcohol note at the finish; peach. The mouthfeel is heavy with some nice residual sugar heft bringing a velvety, luscious feel on the palate.
This is one of 50 bottles produced for the Manitou Springs Heritage Brew Festival and was brewed with hemp and granola (Local Relic Batch No. 356). The beer looks and smells fantastic and the mouthfeel is rich and creamy, but a rather late developing, strong alcohol aftertaste seems out of balance with the granola adjunct and whatever other brewing malt flavors used. Dialing down the ABV a tad probably would have helped balance things out. Still, a tasty and interesting beer.
