Brewed to help celebrate the first birthday of the youngest member of the Local Relic family, this traditional German-style Spring Lager is a lighter, hoppier version of the traditional bock style, with a light to moderate malt character and a light, clean finish.

Deep, copper-red body topped with a thick, velvety head. Sweet caramel aroma with fruity esters. Rich malty flavor with some pear and red apple notes; nutty; somewhat harsh bitterness at the finish. Heavy bodied but rather rough overall; some alcohol heat; ultimately a dry finish.
The beer started out a bit over-carbonated but did not gush out of the bottle. The looks are on point for the style yet the flavor and mouthfeel seem a bit off-balance. An decent doppelbock but not as good as many other examples.
