Deep, dark brown body with a thick, velvety, sticky head. Excellent aroma of dark roast coffee and charred grains; cocoa. Light mocha flavor evolving into a very bitter, coffee ground-like quality; rye spiciness blended with a strong alcohol presence. Medium-heavy body; lush and velvety on the palate; mostly dry finish.
This beer delivers outstanding looks and aroma yet falls short on the flavor. There is something odd with the rye/alcohol combination, something a bit too phenolic. Oh, it's still drinkable and worth a shot, but there has been a slight misstep in the flavor profile.
