Everybody knows that they sent Pale Ale to India (a.k.a. India Pale Ale) but nobody seems to realize that they sent WAY more porter over there. In order to make the voyage the brewers treated porter the way they did pale ale, i.e. doubled the bittering hops and dry hop the heck out of it. This isn’t your normal porter: intense roast character from the traditional grain bill of pale, amber, brown and black malts and a firm finish from 90 IBUs from East Kent Goldings hops. Think of it as the original black IPA! (6.1% ABV).
This beer is dedicated to Lemmy, the bassist and frontman for the band Motorhead. His music is always on rotation at the brewery and he will be missed.

Pitch black with a tan head. Nice lightly sweet, fruity, roasty with some bitterness and char. Taste is slightly sweet and roasty with a great hoppiness. This is a really good beer.

Pours a deep dark chocolate brown with creamy full one finger deep beige head atop.Coffee, char, and bitter chocolate really hit ya in the nose,a little caramel syrup comes into play as well.Very much like a coffee drink...in a good way.Dark roast and char mixed with earthy hops makes for a dry palate up front, some bitter chocolate followed by caramel rounds out a great palate.Just a really nice porter, something I like to find more often.Love me some Lemmy and love this beer.

Appearance: Pours coffee colored, capped by several fingers of beige foam that settles into a pancake layer; splashes of lacing hang around; nice bubble show in the build up
Smell: Roast and chocolate with a very earthy, hoppy aspect
Taste: The roasted malt tones and earthy hops provide a one-two punch, with the hops dominating the middle; in the back end, the chocolate flavors come through to add a third dimension
Mouthfeel: Medium to full body with moderate to high carbonation
Overall: I really enjoyed this beer; the combination of the roasted and earthy tones make a nice pairing
