In October, when the new malt and hop crops came in, brewers would make their finest beer. This 'October Beer' was massive, with tons of hops then aged for years. Some funk from barrel aging would be common.

25.4 oz bottle, unk date, poured into tulip. Copper orange, amber colored. Really a beautiful looking beer.
Some floaties. Off white colored head, recedes quickly.
The nose is funk, hay barn, honey, marmalade, vinegar. Reminds me of a Saison or farmhouse beer.
Taste is very different from nose.
Initially malty sweet, grainy/biscuity malts, honey. Some Brett funk. Balanced with just a hint of bitter hops. It finishes warmly with a white grape or golden raisin. As the beer warms up, the taste matches more of the nose. Vinegar, funky hay, barnyard.
Big syrupy body and mouthfeel.
Such a unique beer and glad to have the opportunity to try.

Pours a gorgeous dark cooper color with 2-3 finger head. The aroma is a sweet malty with a little hoppy. The taste is very surprising. The malty flavor hits you with the sweetness then you get the bitterness of the hops but its gradual. Nothing overwhelming or overpowering. Just a good tasting beer. The feel has mild carbonation and a lot of malty flavoring. Overall a very good beer
