Indeed it does taste like the RIS of old, like many I have had when traveling abroad in europe. Fun to have a blast from the past, however there is a reason the style has progressed over the years. The chocolate syrup coating on the harsh bitter RIS base is always a tad sweet for me but well done. I will say the smell was enticing with how balanced it was between the roasted malt, chocolate, molasses and caramel. An antique worth checking out
