We started with a classic, traditional Imperial Stout in the style of when it was actually sent to Russia. Brewed with ultra orthodox ingredients like Maris Otter, Brown and Black malts and loads of EKG hops. We then aged it in wheat and rye whiskey barrels.
No candy bars or wacky flavors, no artificial ingredients. Just a beautiful stout rested in delicious barrels.

Appearance: Pours espresso colored with a two finger ecru head; sheets of lacing
Smell: Ashen roast tones and spicy rye with chocolate complementing
Taste: Chocolate forward with the ashy, roasty flavors emerging; the spicy rye element arrives, with the swallow, and the finish is very oaky
Mouthfeel: Full bodied with moderate carbonation
Overall: Perhaps this is what an RIS tasted like back in 1860 but it is too roasty, ashy and oaky for my palate in 2021
