Aging Imperial Stout in oak barrels dates back to the 1700s but using barrels that previously held whiskey is an American invention. We take an ultra-traditional Imperial Stout (circa 1850) and gently rest it in a blend of Wild Turkey and George Dickel barrels. The vanilla and coconut notes from the wood and a deep level of complexity. Drink now or cellar for 2-3 years.

Picked up a pint bottle from the Appalachian Vintner in Asheville 5-26-22 for $15.99. Believe it was released in April 2022; consumed 7-14-22.
Beer poured black with virtually no head. Definitely open flat with no carbonation.
Nose is wonderful, heavy roasted notes that lend a chocolate note, whiskey notes including a touch of vanilla.
Taste is near perfect for my palate as the heavy roasted malts dominate that emit dark chocolate. A touch of whiskey provides for warm sips initially and give a touch of vanilla. Finishes wonderfully balanced.
Mouthfeel is thinner than hoped, medium bodied and smooth.
Overall i love the take of the traditional imperial stout style and a touch of the barrel is a nice enhancement!
