Imperial Stout as it tasted when it was still shipped to the Russian czars. Brewed with the finest pale, brown and black malts and English hops. Full of complex coffee and bittersweet chocolate flavors with a firm bitterness.
Shout out to our label designer Fian Arroyo for the awesome bat with the head bitten off logo.

Getting to try this courtesy of @carolinacardinals; much appreciated!
Appearance: Dark brown to oil-like. Pours with no head.
Aroma: Dark, roasted malt and dark fruits. Mild alcohol.
Flavor: Dark roasted malt, coffee, baker's chocolate, dark fruit, moderate to aggressive bitterness.
Mouth-feel: Full bodied, slick. Mild alcohol warming. Semi-dry finish.
Overall: Very true to the English style RIS. Slightly more sweet than an American style. Aromas of roasted dark malt, dark fruits. Flavors add coffee and baker's chocolate-like bitterness. Alcohol is notable in aroma and warming but mild, not harsh. Has a nice, well balanced dark malt, dark fruit, coffee, and chocolate complexity with a slick, oily mouth feel. While not as bitter as many American RIS, it does have a solid bitterness to it. RIS fans should like it.

Picked up a 2026 500 ml bottle from the Appalachian Vintner 4-3-26 for $15.49. Consumed 4-21-26.
Beer poured black with a very little tan head.
Nose is heavy roasted malts, floral hops, and a touch of dark chocolate.
Taste is spot on as the heavy roasted malts give me bittersweet 90% cacao. Hopping is strong and tilts this heavily into a very bitter stout.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied and smooth but seems less viscous than previous 1840 editions.
Overall, if you like bitter roasted coffee this RIS is for you!
