I was browsing the lengthy beer aisle at a Wines and More store when this can with an attractive shrink wrap label caught my attention. Never heard of the Black Hat Brew Works and not usually a big fan of Blonde Ales but nonetheless decided to give it a try. Good decision on my part. This wasn't a bland or weak tasting product as Blonde Ales sometimes seem to be. From the first mouthful I knew this one was different and in a very positive way. Plenty of body and taste helped in part by the 6.5% ABV which is higher than I've usually encountered in the Blonde or Golden Ale category.

I had debated about getting a single can or a 4-pack and had taken a chance on the latter package. Luck was on my side this time and I'm looking forward to at least 3 more dates with this Bridgewater Blonde.

I was looking for a basic beer with some bite but without being too hoppy nor fruity nor bitter nor sweet. This beer was right up my alley. A nice malt taste with some bitterness at the end. Beer beer. Unlike American beers which are watered down and have an awful Pils bitterness at the end, this beer is a smoother bitterness. It does not turn you off, rather enhances the flavor and invites you to have another taste. I had a DBL IPA at the same time and preferred this milder beer. I recommend it highly. Getting harder to find a nice middle of the road beer, Good with food. Good out on the balcony after work. Yum.
