Glad to see them canning now. Love their beers. "Drink Fresh", well how can I if there's no can date?!
Pours a light fizzy head with lower retention, but not bad for the abv, very hazy cloudy opaque medium to darker orange color
Nose explodes with hops goodness, so much packed in there but all seem to harmonize, citrus zest and oil up front, grapefruit pith, big tropical with pineapple and some mango skin, dank Southern Hemisphere-like hops as well with some white grape skin and musty juicy citrus fruit, after I get passed that some tangerine and peachy stone fruit, very light wheat and doughy malt, touch of perfumey alcohol
Taste starts with some grainy malts, a little doughy wheaty and gristy, with a light pulp and touch of maybe paper notes like a hint of oxygen got in somewhere, hops are there dominating the flavor but don't pop quite as much as the nose, big citrus and tropical fruits, but a generous juicy peach also comes through, fair pithy citrus, tangerine pith mostly, light rind white peach skin, tropical with a little papaya and green unripe-mango, some pineapple and very little bitterness since it technically is a New England DIPA, big tropical fruit juice. Finishes a touch on the dry side, lingering citrus and tropical juice
Mouth is soft creamy slight juicy with a medium body, medium carbonation, just a touch of warming alcohol
Overall pretty well done, a touch of papery up front, possibly a little oxidation which really effects NEIPAs, or possibly leftover chalk/minerals which is also very possible in NEIPAs, but hops are very nice, juicy soft and enjoyable, minimal alcohol, another well done beer by Black Hat. I really wish I could get out there more to visit them.
