Picked this up in Garden City, Kansas on my way across the country on U.S. 50 this past summer as this was the first beer that I ever bought and had from the Sunflower State. Loved the name, given what I did, but this beer had a bit of that sense to it both based on the taste and the label itself. Like the other reviewer on here, this felt more like a Red Ale as it wasn't that smoked and not reminiscent of something from the British Isles.

The ruddy, mahogany complexion of the liquid led me to think that this was categorized incorrectly on here as it was topped off with a ton of fluffy foam of bread. Plenty of that was in the nose along with caramel, grain, and earthy hops as the taste followed suit. Plenty sticky with a good amount of dough underneath that, this was almost light enough to feel like a Lager. British in flavor because of the bitterness, it was light enough to meld into everything else going on here as this didn't last in my can for very long!

Part of that was this beer's light alcoholic presence, as it would have been easy to crack open another after finishing this off. No date was written on the bottom of the can as it would have been easy to quaff a few of these in a sitting. Lots of stickiness on my lips and a light carbonation ensured that this would have plenty of body to it and as something to kick back with on a mild autumn night, this was a nice choice. Too bad I couldn't visit Three Rings when I was out that way!

Poured a clear, reddish amber color with a fluffy, off-white head of foam. Slight earthy aroma with roasty notes. Didn't get much of the Scottish flavors. It tasted mostly like a regular red ale.
