Nitro pour. From the brewer: “A nitrogenated American Porter boasting deliciously complex flavors of rich chocolate, roasted coffee, and delectable vanilla. Super soft mouthfeel with a mildly sweet finish.”
Poured slowly (once) with an upward cascading two-finger head. Dense. Some lacing but not as robust as most nitros. The liquid is deep brown where light passes through the edge of the glass.
More vanilla than chocolate or coffee to the nose. A lot more. This smells like a breakfast shake. I get only a touch of cocoa in the background.
A surprisingly high level of “carbonation”. The body is thinner as well. If I were blindfolded, I would have no idea that this could be a nitro pour. Again, the vanilla is huge, dominating the flavor. The semisweet cocoa is stronger than the smell. The aftertaste is short. This is a good beer but it lacks the attributes (and strengths) of a nitro pour.
