Light brown color and clear. Modest head that leaves a few streaks and spots for lace.
The smell is similar to a brown ale with plenty of darker (brown) bread. Lightly sweet with just a touch of hop for balance.
Decent body with a subdued carbonation level. The breadiness is more acute on the tongue. The hop bitterness is also stronger but never takes over the predominant malt flavor. Comparing this to the German Dunkel, I actually prefer this one because of the mild bitter aftertaste.
