Pours hazy, tan in color with 1/2 inch head. Taste is pale malt, Earl Grey tea, brown sugar, and raisin. Medium bodied and carbonation, slightly sweet. Makes for an above average cool weather sipper.

500mL bottle
Caramel-brown colored body with a thin beige layer of foam. Sweet malty nose with toffee, caramel, faint fruit and some earthy hops. Sweet & malty flavors with toasty grain, caramel, brown sugar, and toffee along with some earthy hops. Medium body, semi-dry finish is more sweet than bitter. Overall, easy drinking malty beer. Nothing special, but good value.

$1.49 per 500ml bottle at a grocery store in Brooklyn. Short review for this Heineken-parented brew:
Brownish copper body. Off-white head.
Aroma suggests brown bread, caramalt, doughy yeast, and creaminess. Average in strength.
TASTE: Biscuit malt, amber malt, caramalt, bready malts, slightly doughy yeast, brown bread. Wee bit toasty. Plenty of malt sweetness. No hop flavour at all. Drinks like a dunkel-cum-amber with a breadiness throughout - not bad fare but a bit simplistic. Nevertheless, it's surprisingly well balanced for such a malt-driven top fermented brew and I do like it.
TEXTURE: Smooth, wet, plain, medium-bodied, well-carbonated, and of average heft & weight on the palate.
OVERALL: Many will find it middling, but those who are fans of malt-emphatic Euro brews will dig this one. Better than one might expect given its Heineken parentage, and well worth trying. A nice Polish brew that would pair well with bread, pierogi, kielbasa, fries, or meat. I look forward to trying more beers from this brewery.

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a medium to dark coppery amber with a thin, light khaki head that has good retention and light lacing. Aroma of biscuity, mildly toasted malt, brown bread, mild dark dried fruit. Flavor follows, with biscuit and lightly toasted malt, brown bread, figs and dates, mild and smooth. Finishes with a little stark graininess and husky bitterness. Medium bodied with a light creaminess. A mild, easy drinking malty beer with a profile somewhere between an amber and old ale. Not rich or heavy enough for a traditional old ale, but with a similar flavor profile, just muted. The flavor is good, but understated until the finish which reveals some of the grain and husk flavors. Pleasant, but need a bit more depth.

Pours a bright golden yellow. very clear and crisp.
Smells like a bland lager, taste very bland overall, but you do get some wheat-y type flavors. Any flavor there is subdued. Its pretty drinkable and has a nice carbonation.
Overall it was a fine beer. not bad, just fine.

1/24/16 Chicago (500 ml bottle poured into small beer glass). Penny copper watery pour, with lively carbonation, light white head and nominal lacing. Herbs, apple, lemon and toasted malt aroma. Somewhat sweet taste, mild herb and malt. Texture somewhat watery, but carbonation is felt going down. Overall OK offering.

This beer was first brewed in 2010, for a festival celebrating the 1200th anniversary of the town of Cieszyn. A few years later after a trip to Poland, Harpoon brewed a beer with the same name oddly enough. This is considered an ancient regional style, and employs a decoction mash and lagering in brewery cellars, though it is described as top-fermented. Pours a hazy dark Amber with a finger of off white foam. Not much lacing, feeble skim across the surface. Initial aroma was sweet and toasty, as it sits there are caramel notes and soggy cereal grain notes.
Taste is lightly toasty and grainy, note of wet paper, somewhat muted. Slight astringency, medium bodied, moderate carbonation. Overall it's pretty ho-hum. For all the unique backstory, there wasn't much to this beer unfortunately.

Deep gold color; lively carbonation; nice head with medium lacing; smells fresh and grainy. Good flavors: toasty grain, slight raisin, biscuit, malt, hint of lemon, hints of herbal spice. Not sure about the "Old Ale" designation. This would be the "Lite" version of an Old Ale, but the flavors are there in a muted form.
I think this is really an amber ale.
A good beer which I enjoyed. Nothing spectacular, but a solid and well made beer.
