This is our first ever “Triple IPA.” 9.5% and dry hopped at 4 different points in the process. Hopped with Citra, Mosaic, and Azacca. Think pineapple, pine, and citrus. This one has a silky smooth body with the most oats we’ve ever added to a beer (hence the name).

A: Pours an extremely milky murky deep golden yellow in color with moderate amounts of fine active visible carbonation rising along the edges of the glass and moderate burnt orange + bright yellow + orange + copper colored highlights. The beer has a three finger tall dense sudsy pillowy foamy white head that slowly reduces to a large patch of medium thick film covering a little more than 75% of the surface of the beer with a very thin film covering the remainder of the surface of the beer and a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Light amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Moderate to strong aromas of juicy citrus/grapefruit, tropical/mango, citrus/tangerine, tropical/pineapple, and pine hops over the top of moderate aromas of biscuit + oat + honey malts with a light amount of honey sweetness.
T: Upfront there are moderate flavors of biscuit + oat + honey malts with a light amount of honey sweetness. That is followed by moderate to strong flavors of juicy citrus/grapefruit, tropical/mango, citrus/tangerine, tropical/pineapple, and pine hops which impart a hint of bitterness which fades away almost instantly leaving lingering citrus + tropical + pine hop flavors.
M: Just shy of medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Creamy with a moderate amounts of soft/fluffiness mid-body and a hint of dryness in the finish.
O: Easy to drink with very well hidden alcohol and a wonderfully soft/fluffy/creamy mouthfeel. Really enjoyable with a very pleasant hop profile. I could easily have a couple of these but they would definitely sneak up on you.

Appearance: Pours a cloudy honey color with a two finger head; decent retention and some streaky lacing
Smell: Papaya, mango, melon and passionfruit
Taste: Papaya, mango and melon flavors forward with the passionfruit adding a moderate bitterness that builds through the middle; a balance of flavors through the finish
Mouthfeel: Medium to full body; creamy with moderate carbonation
Overall: Big Oaty brings a perfect balance between the juicy and bitter elements and keeps the sweetness in check; this beer is as good as anything I have tasted from the NE IPA heavy hitters
