A: Pours an opaque yet still clear thick viscous jet black in color with light to moderate amounts of fine active visible carbonation rising along the edges of the glass and faint dark chestnut brown + dark cola brown + dark ruby red colored highlights. The beer has a finger tall dense sudsy foamy dark tan head that reduces to a small to medium sized patch of slightly mottled very thin film and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Light amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Moderate to strong aromas of sweet milk chocolate (almost fudge like) + vanilla + marshmallow over the top of moderate aromas of roasted + dark + chocolate + caramel malts with moderate amounts of caramel + lactose sweetness. Light aromas of cacao bins + walnut as well as a hint of earthy hops.
T: Upfront there are moderate flavors of roasted + dark + chocolate + caramel malts with moderate to strong amounts of caramel + lactose sweetness. That is followed by moderate to strong flavors of sweet milk chocolate (almost fudge like) + vanilla + marshmallow. Finally there are light flavors of cacao nibs and walnuts as well as very light flavors of earthy hops. There is a light to moderate amount of roasty bitterness which is quickly overtaken by the sweet fudge-like chocolate flavors which linger through the finish.
M: Full bodied with slightly lighter than moderate amounts of carbonation. Smooth with a light amount of alcohol warming in the finish.
O: Easy to drink with fairly well hidden alcohol - just a light presence of warming in the mouthfeel - as well as a smooth mouthfeel. Lots of complexity to the flavors and aromas from the chocolate + vanilla + marshmallow + walnuts + cacao nibs - there is sweetness but it is not cloying.
