Imperial stout with cacao nibs, coconut, coffee and vanilla.
This beer's concept was designed by The Roots Members through a series of questions, one question leading to another with the majority vote being the final decision. The members fully designed the base beer, from the ABV, to the adjuncts, and even the packaging type. Once designed, it was up to the brew team to dream up a process and create this beer for your tasting enjoyment. We're really stoked for this one and we know you will be too! Without further ado, we present to you the Imperial Stout "Contemplation".
We started with our biggest stout base yet, creating an all new recipe for this beer. We loaded the mash tun multiple times and created a beer coming in at 12.5% ABV. Frankly we wish we did it sooner! This beer is possibly our best base to date, a bit less sweet but still thick and vicious. We then added toasted cacao nibs from Videri Chocolate in Raleigh and hand cut Madagascar vanilla beans. From there, we added both toasted and raw shredded coconut to the beer. And to top it off, we added flavored coffee to create the ultimate German Chocolate Cake in a glass. Delicious and decadent dark chocolate with a creamy coconut coffee finish, you won't regret it.
