on-tap at the brew-pup
L: black, tight bubbled tan head about 1/4- to 1/3-inch in a small snifter; slight stick off head, next to no lacing; very dark but clear, shows dark brown up to light
S: as it warms, peppermint ... chocolate peppermint; malt slowly adds sweetness, more and more as it warms. some almost bourbon/vanilla notes but the peppermint is always there and the sweetness is very pleasant.
T: fantastic peppermint finish over a real nice base stout of dark roast malt, coffee, burnt malt, burnt hops (?), wood, wood fire, charred oak; sweetens out more and more as it warms; aftertaste leaves a lingering menthol; becomes mint chocolate chip as it continues to sweeten; slight alcohol heat; lingering bitter aftertaste over time
F: nice midweight, good carbonation
O: great-change-up brew, shows a bit of alcohol warmth, and the peppermint really works here; smells like chocolate peppermint/tastes like mint chocolate chip ... in other words, the nose is much sweeter. good enough that I might go back for more.
