Anniversary Ale (IX)

Had not been to this brewery for several weeks and glad we went by last night. This beer is very interesting and enjoyable, but hard to classify. The brewery describes it as a dark ale, but it has characteristics of a porter. It is a sort of dark sour which is something I like very much.

In any event, I had the beer poured from tap into a plastic cup (seems another brewery succumbing to the plastic cup trend). Very nice looking dark brown color with excellent head and curtain lacing. The smell and taste is of dark chocolate and coffee. The initial taste is dark chocolate and coffee with a pleasant finish of tart cherries some earthy funk and a rich full feel. Looking forward to having it again before it is gone.

Have had it over three weeks now. It gets better as it ages in the keg.
