Nice space. Plenty of standing room. The beer selection and quality were decent, but not spectacular. Worth a stop when you're out checking out the LA beer scene. It probably won't be your favorite, but you'll be glad you checked it out.

Swung by yesterday for the first LA BA ThrowDown.
As soon as you walk in you know that you're at a brewery. The brewhouse pokes up out of the cellar right at the entrance, which then opens up to a massive space with a long center bar that puts focus on the beer, serving tanks and menu screens. Tons of standing room. There's also a huge covered patio with seats, but it is a smoking area. Vintage skeeball and bar games. Impressive space.
Fritzi Coop is next door, and they have a service window inside of the brewery to order food. I did't get anything, but I should've. Cool idea. Food looked damn tasty.
Roughly 20 house beers on tap + at least 6 guest taps, with a very wide representation of styles. Maybe too many for a brewpub? I'm also not a fan of guest taps at brewpubs. Regardless, overall Devon Randall is doing a great job here. The beers were solid, a bit old-school and very approachable. Full, halves and tasters were available. Service was attentive, fast and helpful.
I was there from 12 noon to 6pm. The vibe definitely changed from beer geeks to more of a DTLA nighttime crowd and started to get packed. I recommend visiting early if that's not your thing.

This is the worst brewery I've ever been to, as far as quality of beer goes.
The place is the epitome of craft-beer-trend cash-in, complete with too expensive skee-ball, too much wood plank, a warehouse motif, and a photo booth.
More importantly, the beer is entirely BAD. Like really bad. Like check my profile, I've had a lot of beers, and I don't mean to be rude, but I feel like I need to spare my fellow beer aficionados - THIS PLACE IS BAD.

Excellent brew pub. Always a great selection of beers, brewed just for drinking at the brewery as well as a changing list of guest brewers always local and very often rare finds. Bar game fun throughout the place with a top notch food menu offered by the hole in the wall to their neighbors Fritzi. Great for beer geeks and party people alike a rare mix these days.

Arts District Brewing is located as you can imagine in the Arts District near Little Tokyo. I work in the Downtown area, so I walked over to try this place out. I was surprised with the size of this brewery. It's much larger than one might think from the outside. There's a large rectangular bar area ringing some brewing equipment. There's a place to order food. I didn't try any food today, but I will next time, it looked good. There were lots of skee ball machines along the back with a soccer game being projected to a wall with tables and seating to watch. There are multi-level with lots of tables, booths, etc. to socialize. There's also an outdoor patio.
I think this place is a nice place to hang out after work, or if you live in the area. The beers were okay. I think they need a little time to refine them.
Overall, a cool place to visit.

Brewery meets sports bar. Large bar area with overwhelmed and inattentive bartender. Many different styles of brewery's beer, as well as beers from all over California on tap too. Crowded, noisy vibe. The beers I tried were ok to very good. Lots of people having fun, but too crowded for me.

Beers were lackluster. Reminded me of Beachwood BBQ.
Had their pale ale, extra pale ale, imperial porter, oatmeal stout, Belgian single, red rye ale. Only their porter, oatmeal stout, and red rye ale were decent.
Everything else left something to be desired.
Flavors started pff okay, but tailed off really quick and stayed there.
Their hot dogs and fries were really good though.

This is my new favorite place! Lots of great local house beers, plenty of games to keep you hanging around for another pint plus great food from the kitchen. I hear the pub up front will open in a couple weeks!! Can't wait for more. Traction IPA, Red Bird Rye IPA, both top notch. Every beer I have tried here is clean and taste great. I will be back as much as possible. I'll take another!!

Just a super trendy spot for hipsters and art geeks who don't know the difference between Bud Light and craft beer. The people that come here are the ones that think that by drinking a Stone Brewing IPA that they are indeed having a craft beer (c'mon really). Overall huge place with huge bar just all the beer is crap.

Sweet baby Jebus! I went in with pretty high expectations, and while I didn't really have any doubts about a power team like Brian Lenzo, Devon Randall and Cedd Moses, I was pleasantly surprised at how far my expectations were exceeded.
The space is quite large and has a sort of modern industrial yet polished look, with exposed metal work, lots of concrete and bright shiny new brewing equipment visible throughout. A number of large bright tanks are the centerpiece, surrounded by a massive bar which seemingly could fit at least 50 people comfortably. Additionally there are many tables scattered about and plenty of open space if you prefer to stand. Perhaps coolest of all though might just be the skee-ball lanes, where if you're not a pathetic loser like myself, the tickets you win can be exchanged for beer. With an incentive like that, I soon shall be a skee-ball champion!
Now onto the beer. Wow, I knew Devon wouldn't disappoint when it came to IPAs, but she is killing it right out of the gate with 11 different beers of varying styles. I didn't manage to try all the beers, but from the likes of an imperial porter, a golden ale, pale ale, oatmeal stout, IPA and rye IPA, I don't think I could fault a single one. The rye IPA, Kablamo, is seriously mind blowing. Couldn't get enough!
While downtown, and the arts district specifically, are now blowing up with craft beer, Arts District Brewing is no doubt a serious force to be reckoned with and will surely be setting a new precedent for craft beer in LA. With so much more coming down the pike in the near future, it's hard to believe, but this is only a small taste of what's to come for Arts District Brewing Co. Welcome guys!
