Charcoal black with a large brown head. Roasted malt base with various chocolate tones, decent peppers, light bourbon with bigger oak, and big cinnamon make up the nose. Taste is spicy with the cinnamon and peppers interacting with the bourbon booze, cocoa and dark chocolate tempered by the oak with a finish that is heavily roasted more than anything, kind of a let down finish after so much going on before. Want the landing to be stuck and this issue is reflected in the feel too, complex, boozy and spiced but syphoned off by the finish for roast and smoke that doesn't have a metallic taste but gets on the path feel wise. Overall I loved most of the beer, just wish the finish was more refined

Pours near-black with minimal tan head.

The nose is cinnamon, chocolate, and cherry, and the taste follows. Slightly thin and boozy. It improves as it warms.

Overall, good but a little rough around the edges.

Pour at the brewery. A standout among many, many good beers.

The nose on this is a dark chocolate bar. Cacao leaps at the nose. Hints of chile show, but manifest themselves more assertively with the first sips. You get a slight burn, some roast chile flavor and a tingle of spice on the tongue. As you continue drinking, more vanilla and chocolate will show and the spice will recede, becoming noticeable only on the finish.

The feel is rich and creamy and the base stouts could stand on its own. This was great.
