This small-batch version of Jessup's 4th anniversary beer was aged only in bourbon barrels, ditching the rum barrels that the regular version incorporates. I'm drinking this 4 months after bottling.
The appearance is dark red-brown with a persistent centimeter of tan head.
The nose leads with dark fruit, with almost jammy fig and cherry on top of more subtle notes of dark chocolate and booze.
The taste is cherry, apple, caramel, and dark chocolate, with the slightest hint of bitterness on the finish.
The mouthfeel is medium for the style, leaning sticky and sweet but nowhere near too much so.
Overall, this is really good. Maybe the best beer I've had from Jessup.
