We paired a brand new hop, Sabro, with an old hop grown in a new place, Michigan Chinook. The combo throws big coconut and pineapple notes with hints of vanilla and mango. It's smooth, super refreshing and made to make you want many.

Been a long time since I’ve had a Smith & Lentz beer, as Bearded Iris and Southern Grist have taken over Nashville from a hazy IPA perspective. But I’m glad I branched out on this one!

Pours a pretty standard but attractive hazy orange-tinged yellow. Full haze but zero turbidity. Minimal off-white head (though that’s probably entirely a product of a Craft Brewed pour) with patches of tiny-bubble lacing down the glass.

Nose is wonderful and reminds me of a few of Sixpoint’s recent experimental hop offerings. I assume that’s the Sabro hop at work, with its extreme tropical and pina colada notes. There’s a wonderful dank quality, but it’s a sweet and uber-tropical dankness that’s quite unique. (Again, hello Sabro.) Lots of citrus and damp grass, huge musty white grape elements, some crackery yeast, lemon zest, and a HUGE hit of coconut in the back end. Wow.

Flavors are very good but can't keep up with the bold and nuanced aroma profile. But the tongue is consistent with the nose in terms of notes, with waves of tropical fruit, lemon/lime, coconut, starchy greens, and white wine. Very grassy, some berry elements, and just a wee bit green. A tad more sweetness and malt pressence would really take this beer to a unique level.

Feel is the typical nuanced NE IPA blend of a light body but velvety feel thanks to the oats (or grains or lactose or whatever), which is lovely but highly familiar.

Really nice and interesting offering from S&L. I need to get back to East Nashville for a visit!
