Enjoyed on-tap @ the Hilton Head Brewing Co in Hilton Head Island, SC for $5. Tapped from the non-labeled silver tap handle into a 16oz Pint Glass.
Aroma- American hops are first to hit the nose and then has a very sweet and malty background. An average IPA aroma is found here.
Appearance- Received with a .5 finger head that dies very quickly. Has a clear, golden body with some copper included. Leaves good lacing behind.
Flavor- A faint dry hopped flavor is the first thing I notice. Malts are stronger than the hops coming in very sweet. Light-Medium bitterness.
Mouthfeel- Light-Medium Bodied, Medium-High Carbonation, sweet, and tons of wheat on the finish... Not sure I can appreciate this. Watered down as well.
Overall Impression- The aroma and appearance are well done but then the American IPA taste and mouthfeel just isn’t there. You can be cheap on the crystal malts while brewing the beer but not the hops when it comes to this style... Definitely reminds me of Schlafly’s Yakima Wheat which isn't close to the style.

Pours an opaque orange-copper color with a half-finger white head. The head recedes into a wispy layer leaving light lacing. Halfway through the beer I noticed an oily film on top.
Smells like a trippel with good amounts of pale malts. Flowery and light fruit aromas up front are backed by malts.
Tastes similar to how it smells. Muddled malt flavors up front are shortly joined by light fruit flavors that carry through until a watery and bitter finish.
Mouthfeel is alright - it's a bit on the thin side but with solid carbonation.
Drinkability is not so great. I finished one and then had to drink another because it was the best beer they offered.
Overall this is nothing close to an IPA, though I would love to take a look at their recipes.
EDIT: It's not quite as bad-tasting as the smell and taste scores would indicate, but I reviewed according to style.

This IPA is very poor, I don't know how they stay in business. The smell is not good and thought at first it was a light beer. I could almost smell a hint of blueberry. That could have been from the glass. Don't go here and the food is almost as bad as teh beer.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
