Poured from a 12 oz can into a Dogfish Head tulip
L: Slightly hazed golden copper pour. Massive foamy white head leaves loads of sticky lacing.
S: Citrus forward.. lemon and orange rind.. light grains.
T/F: Light grains/malts and a citrus forward hop profile. I'm picking up more lemon than grapefruit... summer fruits like peach.. maybe a bit of tea. Moderately bitter. Relatively light bodied... well carbonated and fairly smooth. The finish is more bitter with a hint of lemon.
O: A solid IPA... easy drinking with good flavors. Nothing elite, but will do the trick and definitely sessionable.

A thanks to the captain of the canquest, woodychandler, for this beer. Poured from a 12 oz. can. Despite zero agitation, this beer came gushing out, resulting in an orange color with a 2 inch head and some spillage on my jeans. Smell is of peaches, oranges. Taste is oranges, malts, light peaches, mild bitterness. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a solid beer.

CAN you believe it?!? Doc G's in DuBois has come to Lancaster! I had not heard of them since I stepped down as a state beer correspondent over a year ago, but they are a welcome addition down here. The CANQuest (tm) abides.
From the CAN: "About Jefferson Line India Pale Ale [:] Don't fret, friends. You'll be well-armed after a couple of these! This American IPA is named after the first tavern opened in DuBois in 1835, a 'rough and tough' - anything but a gentleman's bar. Jefferson Line IPA is brewed with a select variety of American hops."
Hey, when you begin to talk of rough & tough, you had best be ready to back it up, if you CAN! I Crack!ed that bad boy like it was nobody's business, just to watch some spray fly past us. I then began an inverted Glug, to the shock & amazement of everyone around us. This resulted in two fingers of dense, creamy, light-tan head with good retention. Color was Amber to Deep Amber/Light Copper (SRM = > 9, < 13) with NE-quality clarity. Nose struck me as being fairly malt-forward, more like an EIPA than an AIPA. There was a nutty woodiness to it, or was it a woody nuttiness? Either way, it did not smell like an AIPA. Mouthfeel was thin-to-medium, not watery, but thin for the style. The taste had a butteriness to it that if you try to tell me was diacetyl, I would give you the side-eye. I am generally blind to diacetyl, so unless it is REALLY buttery, which this was not, then it generally does not register with me. Instead, this seemed to be borne of the malt/hops CANbination. It was more malt-driven than hops-driven, shoring up my thoughts as to its being an EIPA. There was nothing inherently bad about it, but stylistically, it was whack! Finish was semi-sweet, far too malty. Try again, fellas.

On tap at the Penn Stater. Served in a frosted pint glass.
Pours a darker amber like color with a reddish tint. Little to no head bit maybe influenced by the frosted glass.
Nose is clean bready malt with ample apricot like aroma. Not very fruity or piney and I pick up more malts than anything else. Its not sweet smelling.
Taste up front is subtle white grape with a little grapefruit. Almost sugary sweetness and doesn't carry much of any acidic bite. Slight bitterness. Not in your face in any way but the flavors combine pleasantly together.
Feel is on the thin side and carbonation provides a little bit of tingle but it's on the lower side too. Its very easy drinking and clean finishing. Just enough bitterness lingers.
I'd say this is a very well done lPA. never heard of this brewer being from the eastern side of the state. Very nice clean feel and just enough flavors to keep you wanting another sip. Would like the body to be a little bit deeper though as it's just a tad too watery but maybe the frosted glass enhanced that. Otherwise a solid brew.

A little on the bitter side. Would like to see more hoppy aroma. However, average IPA for a new brewery's first run. I am sure this will only improve with time.
