Pours a light copper color with well over a finger of head. The nose and flavor profile are tilted well toward the malty end (especially considering the style).

A thanks to the commander of the canquest, woodychandler, for this beer. Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has an orange.golden color with a 1inch head. Smell is of oranges, tropical fruits. Taste is the same as the aroma, light pine, juicy, moderate bitterness. Feels medium/full bodied in the mouth and overall is an enjoyable beer.

Poured into grip shaped goblet: color is copper, head presents off white at least 1.5 inch off the pour and then lingers well with frothy lacing on the glass sides with a lingering top.

Smell is piney, dank, light malt sweetness and hint of toast.

Taste follows the aroma with piney, herbal, dank, and citrusy hops then some moderate sweetness but plays well with the hop strength, malt flavors are feint caramel and toast; no hint of alcohol strength.

Mouthfeel is crisp, moderate carbonation, light sweetness that lingers a bit but then is overtaken by the bitterness.

Overall a good DIPA, great to be able to find it, though I had to go South to find it - Oakhurst Beverage in Harrisburg.

Poured from a 12 oz can into a Dogfish Head tulip

L: Nearly clear golden copper pour. 2 fingers of foamy white head. Great retention and lacing.

S: Juicy tropical fruits. Floral and citrus.

T/F: Follows the nose. A hop juice bomb... loads of pineapple, guava, and mango. Grapefruit and tangerine... mild floral notes. Sweetness counters the bitterness of the hops. Medium to light bodied... dangerously drinkable at 8%.

O: A very fine DIPA and the best beer I've had from Doc G's. One I'd definitely have again.

These guys must have come on-line after I stepped down as the Ale Street News' PA correspondent. They are located in NWPA, between I-80 & US-322 & I have them earmarked for a visit in April 2024, on my way to Erie for the Rust Belt Eclipse, if not before. The artwork is evocative of Lovecraft's Cthulhu with a couple of pirate galleons in its tentacles as evidenced by the presence of a Jolly Roger.

From the CAN: "Deceptive by nature, this monster has been waiting in the deep to make its presence known. Beforewarned [sic], the fruity overtones will lure you in and entangle you in their grip. This beast is truly a creature that [CAN]not be [CAN]tained."

I was surprised during the Crack! when I got a spritz & spray across my fingertips! It was not caused by it being a brimful craft CAN, as is usually the case, but by something stirring & roiling in the depths. Eeek! I CANmenced a slow, gentle, respectful Glug, but my efforts were for naught - whatever was lurking had bestirred the lees & so I was getting a haze as I poured. I then disCANtinued my efforts & CANducted an in-glass swirl, raising two fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, tawny head with good retention that left behind some nice lacing as it fell. Color was a slightly hazy Amber (SRM = > 7, < 9). Nose was a curious admixture of sweet tropical fruits and dank, resinous pine. Mmm. Mouthfeel was medium. I let the liquid just roll around on my tongue as I CANtemplated how I was going to proceed since I had left a quantity in the CAN. My question was answered as the tip of a suckered tentacle appeared through the vent. Eeek! Fortunately, I was already beginning to bask in the warmth of the alcohol and when coupled with the understated fruitiness and the woody pine taste, I was being lulled into submission. Yum. The remaining pour brought forth this leviathan in all of its wondrous glory, wrapping its many tentacles around my poor, CANstricting throat & squeezing. It was my finish & the beer finished with a slight heat as a reminder to be mindful of such beers.

On tap.

A - Pours a medium hazy amber orange color with a very thick, frothy white head, low carbonation.

S - Orange, tangerine, and citrus. Nice fruity aroma.

T - Orange, tangerine, some lime, some sweet resiny citrus on the finish.

M - Medium body, creates a cottony feel in the mouth.

O - A solid Double IPA that sits in the middle of the pack. Most impressive is the ABV is nicely hidden.
