From a 32oz growler, filled at the brewery five hours ago. Served in a tulip.

Pours a translucent copper-orange with a big, bubbly, two-finger head of loose, beige suds. Retention is pretty good and leaves some clumps of lacing.

Nose is totally West Coast, clean, crackery malt and razor sharp pine.

Initial taste impression is of shocking bitterness, all white grapefruit pith and dried pine needles, forcefully applied as a polishing paste. After my eyes bug back into my head I can begin to tease out a little pineapple, clementine and melon. Big-time chinook; finishes with a long, drying, hop-oily, piney tingle on the tongue.

The feel is smooth and dry like talcum powder, medium-light bodied, maybe a little too thin but with fine, prickly carbonation that compensates.

For those complaining about super-juicy NEIPAs, here's your answer. I'd forgotten just how good a bone-dry, well-bittered IPA could be.

Four day old growler ( filled properly with purge and tube fill) pours a light amber with just a bit of haze. The modest head leaves solid lines of lacing.

Nose is malt and hop fruitiness, some floral.

Taste follows. I'm thinking mosaic, but no, c hops and amarillo in the boil and equinox, citra, chinook and columbus for the x2 dry hopping. Flavor is big and balanced.

Feel is medium with ample carbonation. Tails off into a bit of a pucker. Might need a pretzel or two to session this.

I'm told the recipe was overhauled. Dialed in imo.

Tall cold one poured at Herricks Tavern. A new local brewery and I was excited to try it. Decent tasting but nothing special. Honestly, not hoppy enough for me
