Poured from a 500 mL bottle into a stemmed glass.

A: Pours a brown strawberry color and leaves a couple fingers of dense white head that lingers for a while. The bottle gushed a bit upon opening.

S: Big berry, hay funk, green apple, lemon. Nice, balanced nose.

T: Green apple, hay funk, oak, blackberry, hint of tobacco, fairly dry finish. Tasty.

M: Medium, creamy body with medium carbonation. Smooth drinking with a dry finish.

O: This is a great version of the style (Biere de Mars). The wine barrels add some delicious complexities to the base beer. A very enjoyable, approachable beer

Poured from 500 ml a bottle dated 1/5/2017 into the test glass
A - Really nice cedar color, excellent clarity allows the carbonation show to be on full display. Tiniest spheres dance toward the surface, collect and leave a clinging fabric of themselves to the test glasses inner surface.
S - Wine barrel jumps out front, once passed winter grains, rye, buckwheat follow. Then a nice fruit thread from the base offering tangerine, orange reduction and red grape skin follow.
T - Follows the aromatics closely, a hint of tannin and black pepper add to the complexity.
M - Soft on the palate, fully coating the surface with a lightly slick element. The carbonation is sluggish to clean up. A vinous linger is pleasant.
O - A very nice adaptation to their base Bier de Mars, the red wine barrel application is not dominant, the grain bill and hop schedule are spot on. The soft palate seems to be the new thing these days, that said Honest Weight is certainly demonstrating wonderful creativeness and excellent quality.
