Poured on draft at Armsby Abbey.
Pours a lightly hazed copper color with a finger of creamy off-white head. The head has very good retention, leaving a ring of lace before settling into a thin sheet.
The aroma brings notes of bready malts, light citrus, and piney hops.
The flavor is surprisingly hop forward, bringing notes of grapefruit and pine before the doughy malts come through in the back. Bitterness is quite assertive.
The feel is medium bodied with hefty carbonation. Crisp and exceptionally dry. Refreshing.
Overall, a bit different than what I expected. Granted I'm not entirely familiar with the style but I always expect more sweet fruitiness and malts with a subtle but present hop finish. Still, a solid beer that's worth drinking.
