Very traditional: malty sweet, aromatic, with just enough bitterness. I greatly enjoy this style.

No can date
Pours a large frothy foamy almost 2 finger off-white head with great retention, plenty of sticky lacing, mostly clear dark auburn to chestnut color
Nose grainy malts, a touch biscuity but quite toasty like a nice Vienna malt, very rich caramelized bread crust with some sweet Maillard notes, hint of caramel and toffee, and faint dark fruits, with a bit of an herbal hop
Taste sweet flavors but not actually too sweet, very toasty again and biscuity, sweet bread crust, rich glazed bread crust, with some caramel and toffee, and general Maillard flavors, it does hint a candy flavor which goes a bit too far, faint dark fruits again getting a bit more prominent as it warms, a bit figgy and date like, with a hint of berry even, a light diacetyl coming through but that's OK for the style, med to lower bitterness with some earthy herbal hops, that ramp a bit on the fairly dry finish
Mouth is med bod, soft lager-like, creamy even, med to a bit higher frothy carb
Overall quite nice, it does get a bit on the sweet candy side of things, but other than that it's a well done Altbier in a land where nobody really knows what that style should be I feel like.

Poured from the 16 oz undated can into the test glass. Purchased this one yesterday at the brewery
A - A lovely beer, dark ruby/copper color. Slow parade of spheres feeds a thin off white cap. Initial pour formed a loose knit froth that was quick to exit.
S - Earthy hops, A bit of toasted grain, some light brown sugar, a bit of fruity ester, some yellow raisin
T - Here the offering moves a bit away from the nose a bit, with the grainy toasty thread being up front.
M - Delicate on the palate, stays in a beautiful almost refreshing corridor, bitter/sweet balance is near perfect. Softish water adds a nice texture
O - A very good beer, exccellent texture, full flavored, with solid aromas. At 4.8% this is a great offering
