Picked up a four pack of pint cans. Canned on date of 04/26/22.

Pours a lovely off-white juicy color with hints of orange and a half inch of creamy head. Head retention and lacing are poor. Hard to see the carbonation bubbles, but it seems to be pretty zesty on the pour. Okay, so this is a NE DIPA, that's what I get for going in blind.

Very juicy and fresh aroma of melon, citrus, grape, spice and a hint of pine. A sour, buttery maltiness lingers in the background. Some vegetable notes, such as onion/scallion. Quite pungent.

Taste follows the nose pretty well. Lots of tropical fruit and citrus up front, a bit spicy towards the middle with vegetable earthiness and the pine coming in towards the swallow. A sour maltiness persists throughout to lend some balance. Finishes with lingering bitter grapefruit rind and pine on the tongue.

This one has a medium body with ample chewiness, which I quite enjoy. However, the carbonation is a bit too zesty for me.

This is a solid, complex and pungent brew overall, but not really my cup of tea. I wish I had known it was a hazy when I picked it up as I'm pretty bored of the style. That said, I would say this does add a bit of uniqueness with the hop profile in use here. Due to the zesty carbonation and higher acidity/sourness, I probably won't get this one again, but if you're a fan of the NE IPA style, you'll probably want to check this one out.

Canned 4/26/22. Drank 5/28/22
Pour is a burley pale yellow. Thick white head of foam, poor retention and lacing.
Nose is resinous hops, pine, citrus, pineapple
Taste follows. Dank, resin, pine, berries, grapefruit. Nice bitterness; not too sweet. A bit of astringency.

16 fl oz pull-tab can:

9% ABV. "DIPA."

Pulpy and boozy with murky hop flavours dabbling in white wine, vague tropical fruit, berry, and onion. Nelson doesn't sing in this (like in does in something like Green Flash brewed Alpine Nelson, let alone Alpine brewed Alpine Nelson) and neither does Citra.

Chewy, thick, pulpy, unrefreshing. Alcohol warmth is obvious. Finishes a bit dry. I'm not digging the fruit pulp texture and it doesn't do any favors for the beer's presentation of its hop flavours. They feel muddled and indistinct instead of distinct and clear.

A bit of a chore to drink a whole pint of, if I'm being honest. I guess I hoped for a dazzling hop profile and a less noticeable ABV...I'd sooner drink Houston Haze if I must have a turbid Spindletap brewed IPA, but neither this nor that are on par with the best expressions of the style.

Do you like Spindletap IPAs? Well if you do, here is another one that tastes exactly the same as the last one you had.

Literally every Spindletap hazy IPA is the same beer with a different name and label. Oh, and don’t forget the $15 price tag on a four pack.

A: The beer is very cloudy whitish yellow in color. It poured with a quarter finger high quarter white head that left lots of lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of gooseberries and lime are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and has additional notes of lychee and hints of herbs.
M: It feels medium-bodied and juicy on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This IPA is a hop explosion in your nostrils and tastebuds. It does a good job at hiding nearly all of the alcohol from the taste.

Exceptional beer from spindletap, I’ve been a fan of many of their beers but this one stands it among the rest. Thick, dank and “chewy” are words I would use to describe it.
