This DIPA is in the spirt of other Spindletap offerings: citrusy rather than piney, and I like this choice. Not as in-your-face as so many DIPAs. Very drinkable.

Pours a somewhat hazy golden color with a finger width foamy head. Head retention is decent, as is lacing. Big citrus aroma. Tangerine and grapefruit. NIce fresh orange and grapefruit taste with some piney bitterness at the end. Light bodied with moderate carbonation. Very enjoyable brew.

Pour is a bright light copper with great head and retention.
Nose is a huge wave of grapefruit rind follows by melon, berry, pine, resin, a touch of caramel malt
Taste follows. Melon, pine, berry, grapefruit, citrus rind. solid piney bitterness, caramel backbone. Good beer.
Clean, crisp body. Light and not overly sweet.

This West Coast IPA is a rare offering from a brewery (and local market) that generally only produces NEIPAs. I was excited to see this and would challenge all Houston breweries to explore this style further.
Subjectively, SpindleTap produces the best haze in the Houston area and I commend them for exploring a new style. Them, if anyone, could start crushing this style in our area the same way they did with NEIPAs.
The beer itself is solidly-good, but miles from great. As a benchmark, my palate considers Hop Juju & Hop Hunter from Fat Head’s Brewing in Cleveland, OH to be the truest and best example of a West Coast IPA I have had.
The most important question is - would I buy this again? And the answer is - yes, though Im not sure how far out of my way I’d go in order to get more.
