On tap at Newhall Refinery in Newhall, CA.
Collaboration with Wolf Creek Brewing Company.
Pours an almost opaque super dark orange-brown with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Foamy streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, cocoa powder, toasted nut, and char aromas. Taste is much the same with slightly tart cocoa powder, roasted nut, earth, and char flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is an above average beer that is drinkable, but the slight tartness I am getting in the taste is odd.
Serving type: on tap.
