Barrel-Aged Grisette-style ale. Bottle conditioned with Brettanomyces.

"Minette Grisette", or Little Gray Cat. The style brewed originally for Gray Stone Miners, and poured by women in gray. We are reminded of our favorite "little gray worker".

With aromas of melon, tangerine, and white wine, the spritzy and full body is filled with flavors of stone fruit, white grapes, clementines, and soft oak. This beer reminds us that even something small can be very extraordinary.

The beer is Grisette with Brett, my first beer of this style. The artwork is of a grey cat, which looks like a painting. I served the beer in my Jester King Tulip glass at 46 degrees. The pour of the beer created a one finger white airy and foamy head. The retention of the head is dismal; it comes and goes fairly quickly. The dissipation left no lacing on the glass. The color of the beer is SRM 8, pale amber with light orange hues. This beer is hazy. The appearance of the beer is excellent for this style.

I first detect barnyard, leather, and tangerines for the first whiff. Nosing further, I get peaches, a horse blanket, dirt, straw, fresh-cut grass, wine-like aromas, and white flowers.

I taste tangerines, peaches, melons, a touch of barnyard, earthiness, straw, white flowers, white wine, herbal, and leather in the beer.

The mouthfeel of the beer is dry, tangy, and carbonated.

The body of the beer is light, medium-high carbonation, and medium finish.

The Brett is more pronounced in the aromas of the beer than the flavors. The flavors shine with juicy ripe fruits, yet tart. The beer's flavor profile is impeccably balanced. The malt is near perfect, and the yeast flavors created harmony. An excellent beer; I want to try other beers from this brewery.

A Tavour treat. Pours a hazy orange color with a minimal head that disappears quickly. Aroma is tart fruit juice; melon and tangerines. Tastes quite tart, like hard fruit juice. A very good sour ale. Very enjoyable.
